Preliminary Final action on Sunday kicked off with Mt Eliza taking on Edi-Asp in the under 19’s. The Redlegs shot out of the blocks to have a 29 point lead at quarter time and from there never really looked back. Controlling the game with clinical passes they showed why they deserved to be in the Grand Final next Sunday against Frankston YCW. The final margin was 39 points. In the Reserves, it was Seaford who were triumphant over Frankston YCW by 5 points. The Tigers were wasteful in front of goal early on handing the lead to the Stonecats but after quarter time they were able to straighten up and come home with a win and with a late comeback from YCW.

The Seniors game was a very one sided affair. Bonbeach controlled the game in the first half, extending the margin at half time to a massive 53 points. After half time Edi-Asp switched back on, but it was too little too late, as the Sharks stormed into the 2017 Grand Final where Frankston YCW is waiting for them. The final result was Bonbeach 13.9.87 to Edi-Asp 7.5.47.

Netball – GRAND FINALS

A Grade: Edi Asp 46 Def Karingal 45

BOC: Holly Bailey – Edi-Asp

In one of the games of the year, Edi-Asp has once again been crowned Premiers in A Grade.

Karingal got out of the blocks quickly to establish an early lead. and held onto it for most of the day. Until the last quarter where Edi-Asp were somehow able to edge their way back into the game and then tie the game when the umpire’s whistle went. In extra time it was a stalemate with both sides not giving anything until a penalty shot was awarded to the Eagles right at the end of extra time handing Edi-Asp the 2017 flag.

B Grade: Karingal 53 Def Frankston YCW 40

BOC: Bridgette Barry Murphy – Karingal

The only game to be decided by more than 1 goal, Karingal showed the competition why they were deserving of Premiership in 2017. It was a great game of netball but the Bulls were too good for Frankston YCW running away with a 13 goal win.

C Grade: Frankston YCW 35 Def Karingal 34

BOC: Holly Treacy – Frankston YCW

Another tight game with the result once again falling Frankston YCW’s way. Karingal battle hard all morning but just couldn’t get over the line, with the Stonekittens winning the 2017 Premiership.

D Grade: Frankston YCW 29 Def Edi-Asp 28

BOC: Nicola De Deugd – Frankston YCW

The first of 3 games to decide the 2017 Premier by only 1 goal was a brilliant game. Both sides came out to play with neither side giving in to the other. At the end of the day, Frankston YCW was in front when the whistle blew and was awarded 2017 Premiership.
